There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gambling is not legal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that contains numerous amenities aside from the casino, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
