The act of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a risk at the current time, so you may imagine that there might be very little affinity for patronizing Zimbabwe’s casinos. Actually, it appears to be functioning the opposite way around, with the desperate economic circumstances creating a higher desire to wager, to attempt to locate a quick win, a way from the difficulty.

For many of the people living on the abysmal local earnings, there are 2 common types of gambling, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with most everywhere else on the globe, there is a state lotto where the probabilities of profiting are surprisingly low, but then the winnings are also surprisingly large. It’s been said by economists who look at the subject that the lion’s share don’t buy a card with an actual assumption of winning. Zimbet is centered on one of the local or the United Kingston soccer divisions and involves determining the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, pamper the very rich of the nation and tourists. Until recently, there was a considerably big vacationing industry, built on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic anxiety and associated bloodshed have cut into this market.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has just the slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain table games, slots and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which has slot machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the above mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a parimutuel betting system), there is a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the economy has shrunk by beyond forty percent in recent years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has resulted, it is not known how well the vacationing industry which supports Zimbabwe’s gambling dens will do in the near future. How many of them will survive till things get better is merely unknown.
